Type Locality and Naming

Along the Surkhi River, N. Fergana. U.M. Rasulov, G. Fathullaev, S.D. Morozov, 1991. Stratotype in the Surkhi River area at the Opichek waterfall. The term is not in use.

Synonym: Surkhinskaya Suite, Сурхинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Gravels, sandstones, sandy clays, red-colored siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness up to 20m.

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Opichek Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Alay Fm

Regional extent

Northern Fergana. Correlated with the upper part of the Kainarbulak Fm of the Prishkent region. Corresponds to the upper part of the Opichek Fm
